About Us
Stony Brook Engineering Services is an Electrical Engineering design and consulting firm specializing in laboratory, data center, light manufacturing, and infrastructure projects. Founded on April 13th, 2022, we have over 34 years of experience in electrical systems design for the construction industry. We have extensive experience in areas as diverse as pharmaceutical labs, theatrical lighting projects, data centers, and office fit up. Our design philosophy is work directly with the project architect, owner, user, and contactor to deliver a design that meets the projects needs functionally, aesthetically, on time, and on budget. In addition to traditional plan and spec projects, we have often worked directly with contractors on design-build projects. We strive to exceed expectations and are noted as team players.

Recent Projects
Lawrence & Memorial Transformer Isolation Project
The New London hospital is served by three large utility company transformers located in an underground vault at the rear of the facility. All three transformers were tied together in an arrangement that allowed for power sharing between the units, but prevented any transformer from being maintained by itself (the entire hospital must be shut down to work on any transformer). To allow concurrent maintenance of the equipment, transformer isolation switchgear was design and installed allowing for each transformer to be disconnected from the hospital loads and worked on while the other two transformers remained online.
Canton Drug Manufacturing Facility
A new drug compounding center was built in an existing un-occupied tenant space in Canton, MA. The project included lab, warehouse, process suites, a high purity clean room, and office spaces. To support the new use, the project included a 750KW diesel generator and a 300KW UPS system for critical loads.
Boston Medical Center Chiller Upgrade
The project installed three new 900 Ton chillers in the basement of the Boston Medical Center Newton Pavilion building. It included providing electric service to the new chillers, several 100HP & 125HP chiller water pumps, three cooling tower water pumps, and a new automatic transfer switch and switchboard to allow one of the cooling towers to be fed from alternate power sources.
Ralph H. Johnson Medical Center Generator Plant
To address concerns about hurricanes, the hospital installed a generator plant elevated high above ground level containing three 1500KW generators to power the facility during a catastrophic flood. The project included the installation of two double ended substations (3200A, in a bus-tie-main configuration), generator paralleling switchgear, and numerous switchboards and panel boards to support life safety and other critical loads in the 250,000 sf facility.
