Lawrence & Memorial Transformer Isolation Project

The New London hospital is served by three large utility company transformers located in an underground vault at the rear of the facility. All three transformers were tied together in an arrangement that allowed for power sharing between the units, but prevented any transformer from being maintained by itself (the entire hospital must be shut down to work on any transformer). To allow concurrent maintenance of the equipment, transformer isolation switchgear was design and installed allowing for each transformer to be disconnected from the hospital loads and worked on while the other two transformers remained online.
